A Weekend Along the Clearwater
This weekend, Cliff and I tucked ourselves into a beautiful riverside site at the Clearwater Crossing RV Park in Orofino, Idaho. There is something special about waking up with the Clearwater River just steps away from your door. The sound of rushing water, towering green hills, and the slower pace of a small town create the perfect setting for rest and reflection.
Clearwater Crossing RV Park sits right along the river, and one of our favorite parts of the weekend was simply walking the paved path that follows the water. The trail winds beside the Clearwater, offering peaceful views of the river, trees, and surrounding mountains. Whether you’re an early morning walker or enjoy an evening stroll after dinner, it’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and breathe a little deeper.
Of course, every good getaway includes good food.
One morning we stopped by Ronatta’s Cakery, a beloved local bakery known for its pastries, donuts, breads, and scones. The coffee was excellent, but the star of the show was a blueberry raspberry scone topped with a sweet glaze and buttery crumble. It was one of those treats that makes you immediately start planning your next visit.
Later, we enjoyed dinner at Dining On The Edge, perched along the banks of the Clearwater River. The restaurant is known for pairing great food with beautiful river views, and it did not disappoint. Cliff enjoyed a perfectly cooked steak, while the chicken parmesan was rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious. Add a warm loaf of bread and a view of the river, and it made for a memorable anniversary dinner.
What I loved most about Orofino wasn’t any single attraction. It was the combination of simple pleasures: morning coffee and a fresh scone, walks along the river, a wonderful meal shared with the one I’ve spent 44 years loving, and the chance to sit quietly and enjoy God’s creation.
Sometimes the best weekends aren’t filled with activity. They’re filled with rest.
And Orofino gave us exactly that. ❤️
